MSI ships updated GE620, GT680R notebooks

Computer maker MSI on Wednesday resumed shipments of its two gaming notebooks powered by the troublesome Sandy Bridge processors from Intel that required a recall. This includes the 15.6-inch GT680R and GE620. MSI assures customers any issues have been resolved and will include an extended one-year warranty as part of a new QA program.

Both notebooks are available with the second-generation, 2.2GHz quad Core i7. All 2011 MSI notebooks sold in the US with the updated Intel 6-series chipset are eligible for the warranty, including the two mentioned above, as well as the FX420, FX720/FR720, and CR640/CX640. The notebooks need to be registered within 30 days of purchase to qualify for the warranty, however.

The new GT680R starts at $1,649 and the GE620 at $1,250.
