Dell Precision T1600 ships, starting at $829

Dell has began shipping the Precision T1600 tower workstation it introduced at the start of February. It's meant for professional users with applications such as AutoCAD or Pro/Engineer and offers Intel's Sandy Bridge Core i3 processors or Xeon E3-1200 chips, at clock speeds ranging from 3.1GHz to 3.5GHz.

Up to 16GB of RAM can be optioned up, while storage tops out at 2TB of hard drive space or up to a 256GB solid state drive. There are multiple graphics choices on offer, ranging from integrated Intel video to NVIDIA's Quadro 2000.

The tower sports a tool-less design that lets IT staff take off the side panel and remove hard drives without any screwdrivers or other tools.

The system is now shipping and starts at $829.
