Protects the back of the iPad 2 without hiding it

Accessory maker AViiQ has released their ">Smart Case for iPad 2, a protective back snap-on anodized aluminum case that leaves cutouts for the buttons, cameras, ports and spine of the iPad 2, allowing Apple's own Smart Cover to complement it as the front protector. AViiQ's Smart Case comes in a variety of colors, but despite being made of metal does not interfere with any wireless functionality or connectivity.

The case reflects Apple's own use of highly-recyclable materials and the stylish design of the iPad 2's backing. The company expects to ship the covers in time for Mother's Day and comes in both the "traditional" silver and black colors and a range of lighter hues, including green, blue, pink, orange and red.

The casing is thin, adding only 1.5mm (0.06 inches) to the thickness of the iPad 2, and comes with a two-year warranty. It is available for pre-order now at a price of $50.
