Microsoft debuts Bing app for iPad

Provides optimized interface

Microsoft has released a new iPad-only Bing app. The title is similar in many respects to Bing for the iPhone, providing search and mapping functions as well as news, weather, movie listings, trending topics and other content. Searches can be run using either text or voice.

Bing for iPad distinguishes itself by way a larger, more elaborate interface, mimicking magazine layouts. The overhaul simplifies navigation, and also allows the app to be more visually rich, for instance displaying a sizable grid when running image searches. The app is a free download for iPads running iOS 4.2 or better, but does not appear to be available outside of the US.
