Valve teases Portal 2 for Mac with puzzle pieces

Valve gives us Portal 2 for Mac clue

Valve Software today began giving out cryptic teases for what's presumed to be the launch of Portal 2 for the Mac. MacNN was given a piece along with several others that all follow the same theme. Our copy read "troops be cores," which like the others is an anagram of "reboot process" and hints at the reborn GlaDOS AI that became the villain of the original game.

The individual images fit together like a puzzle and, from early looks, appear to recreate either one of GlaDOS' "eyes" from the end stage of the last game or else one of the sentries. They don't match directly and have to be both color-inverted and rotated to match up properly.

Last time Valve used teasers of the sort was to tease the launch of Steam for Mac. While it doesn't have the advantage of launching its entire app platform, the company is likely hoping to build momentum for the Mac release of Portal 2, which should be concurrent with the Windows version on April 19.

Our unedited piece at top; the complete, altered picture so far below (our piece is in the center)

A puzzle piece that has to be ROTATED to fit, so it ain't so!
