Sprint will have to sell Wi-Fi Xoom initially
Plans for a 4G Xoom at Sprint may be shelved for the near term as a leak has put it on the backburner. The carrier is now said to be launching the Wi-Fi version in its stores at first. The BGR claim still had a WiMAX version of the Android 3.0 tablet coming, but it wouldn't come for an "unspecified amount of time."
It's not known if the Xoom would get any bundles, such as a 4G hotspot, to justify its existence on the network.
A Sprint-specific version of the Xoom has already been sighted and was thought by many to be getting close with a release in weeks. Reasons for a delay could vary widely, but they could involve a temporary Verizon exclusive on a cellular-equipped Xoom or technical issues getting WiMAX working in Android 3.0. The Sprint edition would be fundamentally identical, with a dual-core Tegra 2, 32GB of storage, and dual cameras, apart from what powered the 4G.
