Sprint Android users get carrier billing

Official Android developer Eric Chu just announced that Sprint subscribers will soon get the ability to be bill their Android Market app purchases directly to their provider. This feature is already in use by T-Mobile and AT&T in the US, as well as SoftBank, KDDI and NTT DoCoMo in Japan. Sprint users will see the option roll out in all regions over the next few days.

The option makes it more convenient for users to make purchases and is also key for those who don't have credit cards or in regions where credit card use isn't common. When Google's long planned music store and service go live, it's likely that the carrier billing options can be carried over to this store as well.
