LG E700 may be sequel to Optimus 7

The device profile for a mystery LG E700 has leaked out and may have shown the first known Windows Phone 7 device to use the Mango update. While it appears to be superficially similar to the Optimus 7 (the E900), its profile shows it using Internet Explorer 9, whose web engine is so far only coming in the later OS. Tweakers speculated that the lower numbering scheme meant a more frugal phone was enroute.

Only some of the hardware is on show, but it should have the same 480x800 screen resolution. Microsoft's updated chassis guidelines for WP7 hardware would leave LG picking either an 800MHz or 1GHz second-generation Snapdragon processor that could at least be competitive in performance. Other requirements haven't changed, though, and could leave it with the same five-megapixel camera and 16GB of storage if LG doesn't choose to upgrade the rest of the phone.

Mango isn't due until the fall and sets the minimum earliest timeframe for when the E700 could show. When it does, it should also have multitasking, deeper third-party integration with home tiles and many of the other upgrades from the new software.
