ATT LG Quantum and Samsung Focus close to NoDo

Microsoft updated Windows Phone 7 owners late on Friday to say that two of AT&T's devices were finally in step to get the NoDo update. Both the LG Quantum and the Samsung Focus are in "scheduling," or past the testing phase and due to get their patch within 10 business days. The third, the HTC Surround, is still in testing.

The company's Customer Experience Engineering manager Eric Hautala explained that the Surround needed the extra testing due to different third-party software, likely from HTC, that needed extra checks. More information about the reason and timing would come over time.

AT&T's phones were the last scheduled for reasons unknown, as T-Mobile USA and most international carriers got theirs first, even when they had the same devices. During a MIX11 keynote, Microsoft's Joe Belfiore hinted that the delay was the carrier's doing and nothing specific to Microsoft. The provider hasn't answered the criticisms.

NoDo chiefly adds copy-and-paste text but also speeds up elements of third-party apps and Windows Marketplace. Searches in the Marketplace are also faster.
