Sprint page hints Epic 4G getting Android 2.3 soon

Internal Sprint page indicates Android 2.3 is due

Samsung's Epic 4G smartphone available at Sprint will soon get an upgrade to Android 2.3, if a web page on the provider's servers is any indication. The rdf file indicates the software is undergoing testing and was found by AndroidCentral forums. The software is expected to be released sometime in May if there are no problems during the testing phase, or June if there are some problems.

As there were issues with the Android 2.2 update for Samsung devices on Sprint, including the Epic 4G, the carrier is likely to take its time and ensure everything goes smoothly this time around in order to avoid negative feedback from customers. The Froyo upgrade would present problems when users wanted to access media stored on an SD card. The only fix was a hard reset that would erase the handset's existing data.
