Bang & Olufsen shows off 85-inch 3D TV

Bang & Olufsen has just unveiled an 85-inch plasma HDTV in its BeoVision 4 series. It ships along with the company's BeoLab 10 center channel speaker and is available with or without a motorized stand that lifts the set to an optimal level when powered up. The set is compatible with the BeoLink automation system for full control from one of the Beo6 remote controls.

Electronic curtains open up when the TV is powered up to uncover the screen and an Automatic Color Management system will check the screen's settings with the help of a built-in camera every 100 hours to ensure the picture quality is consistent.

The TV sports an aluminum frame but other specs of the set aren't being discussed. They are likely to mirror those of the rest of the BeoVision 4 family, though. The set relies on active shutter glasses for 3D.

The pricing or shipping dates for North America haven't been announced. In Europe, the TV with the BeoSound 3, BeoLab 10 and a motorized stand will be around 70,000 euros (about $100,200). A package that includes the TV set and BeoSound 3 along with a traditional, fixed wall mount is a slightly more affordable 51,000 euros (about $73,000).
