Hitachi USB 3.0, 2.0 drives include cloud storage

Hitachi GST has unveiled its new range of Touro Pro desktop and mobile USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 hard drive storage solutions. The drives also couple local back-up with online cloud storage services. This new facility helps users to access their content from anywhere as long as they have an internet connection. The first 3GB of online storage is free. However, users can upgrade this to 250GB for $49 per annum, which also includes a free iPhone or iPad app that makes it easy to access content on the go.

The new drives are distinguished by a glossy piano black design and are compatible with both Windows and Mac PCs.

The Touro Mobile Pro range starts at $79 for the Touro Mobile Drive (320GB) through to $230 for the Touro Desk Pro External Drive (3TB).

    Nice Combo from Hitachi

These drives look nice, and the coupling of online storage is a great idea. $50/year for 250GB of storage doesn't seem like a bad deal, either. Wonder if this is Hitachi's last hurrah given their recent acquisition by WD?
