Firemint brings dual-screen iPad gaming in 1080p

Firemint has brought 1080p dual-screen gaming to the iPad with Real Racing 2 HD in an iPad 2 first. Firemint have been able to use Apple’s new Digital AV Adapter for the iPad 2 with HDMI output to allow the main gaming image to be displayed on an HD TV, while simultaneously showing an alternative image from the game on the iPad 2. In this application, the iPad 2 still works as the motion controller with full gyro support, while the secondary image displayed on the iPad 2 is a map of the track and other telemetry from the racing game including lap times.

The game runs at 30 frames per second while allowing the images to be displayed at 1920x1080 resolution, bridging the gap between mobile gaming and a console-like gaming experience. The app even allows a user to detach the iPad 2 from the TV adapter and continue the game on the go, uninterrupted.

The Firemint Real Racing 2 Easter update is available free to all existing users. New users can purchase the game for $10 from the iTunes App Store.
