Production problems clearing up rapidly
US shipping times for the iPad 2 are continuing to decline, a check of Apple's online store shows. Orders are now going out in one to two weeks, having just Wednesday morning been listed as taking two to three weeks. As usual the estimate applies to all models, regardless of capacity or network support.
Reduction of iPad 2 times has so far accelerated beyond what Apple managed with the iPad 1 or the iPhone 4 in 2010. The achievement is especially remarkable given circumstances; international distribution of the iPad 2 has been relatively fast, and in the US the device launched at a greater number of first- and third-party retail outlets versus the iPad 1. The launch was moreover accompanied by a 9.0 earthquake in Japan, disrupting several Apple suppliers.
