BlackBerry Bold Touch may be only new model at RIM expo

BlackBerry Bold Touch seen as only BB World intro

A pair of new tips have suggested RIM's new device launch plans for BlackBerry World next month may be considerably more modest. The BlackBerry Bold Touch is now poised to be the only new model unveiled. RIM made the decision at the last minute but didn't mention why, BGR said.

No signs have emerged of delays for the rest of the 2011 BlackBerry roadmap, most if not all of which could be in stores between June and September. As such, it's unclear why RIM would pull back new introductions other than to avoid oversaturating one event with new models that might not be ready.

The Bold Touch should be the first of a new generation of BlackBerry phones that upgrade to modern processors and features. Here, the upgrade should be to a 1.2GHz single-core Snapdragon processor along with 768MB of RAM, and a five-megapixel camera with 720p making, and 8GB of storage. It will be the first Bold with a touchscreen and will have a very sharp 2.8-inch, 640x480 display, and it should be the first of a slew of phones with NFC for short-range wireless payments and tag reading.

A launch could come in June or July.
