HTC Thunderbolt users also lose 3G

Verizon's 4G LTE network suffered a nationwide outage late last night, affecting over 500,000 Verizon customers. The service disruption also caused HTC Thunderbolt users to lose access to the Verizon 3G network. A Verizon spokesman tweeted earlier today that their engineers are aware of the problem and working on a solution.

The outage has throttled data transfer speed on the Thunderbolt back to near dialup levels: 129kbps down and 151kbps up. Normal transfer rates for 4G are in the range of 12MBps down and 5MBps up.

Other 3G smartphones on the Verizon network have not been affected. [via GottaBeMobile]
