Chrome OS Seaboard tablet shows bug reports
Bug reports showing up recently in the Chromium testing community have revealed that there are currently at least two new Chrome OS devices in testing. One is codenamed the ZDA, and is likely an internal Chrome reference netbook. The other is what appears to be a Chrome OS tablet, referenced as Seaboard.
According to CrunchGear, the Seaboard is Tegra 2-based and is equipped with an Atmel MXT touchscreen and has 1GB of RAM, two USB ports and an HDMI port. References in the Chromium reports also appear to indicate that the device might also have a physical keyboard in addition to the touchscreen for input. This would seem to suggest that the device might be a slider-type design, or something similar, that would allow the tablet to convert into a netbook-style device.
An image of the recently teased Sony Hybrid PC is also included below as an example of what such a device could look like.
Touch UI elements have been added to Chrome OS betas in recent weeks. The web-only OS was originally built around a traditional notebook/netbook interface, although Google indicated late last year that it did ultimately intend to bring the OS to tablet devices as well.
