Panasonic buys into Klausner voicemail patents

Panasonic has entered into a patent license agreement with Klausner Technologies, effectively ending a patent fight between the two. The hardware giant is now covered under Klausner's US Visual Voicemail patents for its enterprise visual voicemail that include Choicemail DECT cordless telephone answering devices. The legal case has been dismissed.

Panasonic is the 31st company to license Klausner Technologies' Visual Voicemail patents. Klausner's technology allows for viewing, prioritizing and selecting voice messages from users' mobile phones or the Internet.

Klausner has filed similar lawsuits against others in the past, including HTC, Verizon, Apple, Google, LG, Motorola, RIM and more. Most have been settled, however, after the risk of a steep fine or a product ban was seen as too high.
