Redbox to bring $2 game rentals to kiosks in June
Redbox, which currently offers Blu-ray and DVD movie rentals from self-service kiosks in stores, announced it will also begin renting games in June. The scheme was experimented with last year in limited locations. It will charge $2 per day for games in addition to its current offering or $1 per day for DVDs and $1.50 for Blu-ray discs.
More than 21,000 of Redbox' kiosks will get the games, for systems including the Wii, Xbox 360, PS3 and PS2. Users can rent games on the fly or reserve them online in advance. Games will be available during their first week of release, unlike the frequent four-week or longer delays for movies.
