System relies on single 3TB disk

I-O Data has quietly introduced an external hard drive, the HDCA-UT3.0K, with three terabytes of storage capacity. The drive is based on one drive, rather than using a multiple-disk configuration that is common to many high-capacity NAS systems. USB 3.0 support enables faster transfer speeds, though the drive is still backwards compatible with USB 2.0.

Aside from the drive's primary focus as a storage device for Mac, Windows or Linux computers, the device can also be used to store DVR content from supported televisions and set-top boxes.

The HDCA-UT3.0K is expected to sell for 27,720 Yen (~$340 USD), however a launch time-frame in the North American market remains unclear. [via Akihabara News]
