7digital updates Android music app, sells music

Web-based UK music and video store 7digital has now updated its Android music app (free, Market), allowing users in the US, UK, Canada and 13 other countries to download MP3 music. The app has a digital locker that stores user's purchased tracks. Past purchases need to be downloaded locally first, however, which allows users to put them onto any device with the app.

It offers DRM-free music downloads from the four major music labels which users can browse and preview. The app is a step toward the company's mission to let users access to their entire music collections on all of their devices. The store offers competitive prices, even undercutting Amazon with $7.77 albums by default.

An app for BlackBerry devices, including phones and the PlayBook tablet, is already available from 7digital that allows for buying tracks. [via to BetaNews]
