Alludes to announcement in 2nd Qtr earnings call

Visa’s executive chairman and CEO has revealed that the company will be describing more about its mobile payments strategy in the coming weeks. In yesterday's second-quarter earnings call, the Visa executive indicated that the financial services company could be issuing an announcement as soon as next week.

Visa has been moving to create a stronger presence in the mobile market. Last month it inked a deal with the Gap through which Visa's service platform would text notices of discounts to customers whenever they were near a Gap store. More recently, Visa invested in Square an online payment service for smartphones. [via AllThingsD]
