Cedar Trail processors further detailed early
More information on Intel's future Cedar Trail processors has been revealed, thanks to CPU-World. In addition to early specs for the. The N2600 and N2800 chips have surfaced; the latter, 1.86GHz chip is now known to sport two Hyperthreaded cores. It should also have integrated, much faster GMA 3650 graphics and run at 640MHz while supporting DDR3-1066 memory. It will also run on 64-bit instruction sets and sport a 6.5W peak power draw.
As its name suggests, the dual-core Atom N2600 should have lower specs. It should ramp down to 1.6GHz while the GMA 3600 graphics would run at 400MHz. Hyperthreading and 64-bit would survive, but the memory support would top out at DDR3-800 RAM. It would, however, operate at a lower 3.5W maximum average power consumption.
The four new chips are due to arrive this winter, with prices for the D2000-series chips priced at less than $55 and the N2000-series chips costing under $50 in bulk quantities.

There is always an Intel tax...
in the sense that these CPUs should cost less than $25, but sometimes you have to live with it.
