Comcast now offers Novatel MiFi 4082 hotspot

Comcast on Friday began shipping its version of the Novatel MiFi 4082 mobile hotspot. Like its Sprint sibling, the portable Wi-Fi router shares its WiMAX 4G and EVDO 3G connection with up to five other Wi-Fi devices. Users need to sign up for Comcast's Xfinity Internet 2go plans.

In 3G coverage areas, users can expect speeds of up to 1.4Mbps, while those in 4G areas get up to 6Mbps. A built-in rechargeable battery provides life away from a wall socket for about four hours.

The hotspot costs $25 when paired with a qualifying Xfinity Internet 2go data plan.
