Boxee Box details v1.1 update due this week

Boxee has just outlined the latest software update for its Boxee Box. Version 1.1 supersedes the current 1.0.4 release and will be released over the next few days. Users can also manually update their devices.

Changes include added favorites and history in the web browser, improved HTML5 support so users can now access content from HBO Go, and a new on-screen display that is cleaner and shows more information on happenings in the background and provides more options at the bottom. The on-screen display otherwise gets a new seek bar that allows more precise rewinding and fast forwarding, has a reduced button count and no longer has a volume control for a more consistent experience.

Users can also view movie trailers in version 1.1. Local, HFS-formatted drives are supported, with sorting by source available. A Seek function during music playback is new as well.

Users can now create and import their own artwork and metadata NFO files for home movies. Sharing content is easier thanks to the newfound ability to pick Facebook, Twitter or Tumblr as the medium.

The MLB.tv app was also updated and allows for watching live and archived games, live events, specific innings, pop-up details for every pitch and easier tracking.

As the Boxee is sold in 34 countries, 16 new languages have been added.

To go along with the above changes, Boxee has also added new content that includes documentaries in HD from SnagFilms and WealthTV.
