Chrome Web Store expands to 41 lanuages, more

During the day two keynote at Google I/O 2011, the company revealed its Chrome Web Store has been launched to 160 million users of the browser and in 41 languages. There is good news for developers too, as Google will only take a five percent cut, with 95 percent of app revenues going to the developer's pocket. Those outside the current markets will only have access to free apps, at least initially, however.

One such free app is Angry Birds, which has now made the jump from mobile platforms to the web. It allows for SD and HD resolutions for the play area depending on the system, as well as 60FPS refresh speeds on PCs that support web graphics acceleration. Browsers other than Chrome should be able to support the game as it's using standard WebGL with support for HTML5's Canvas as well. At time of writing, however, Firefox 4.0.1 wasn't supported. There is exclusive in-game content for the Chrome Web Store app as well, including levels and so-called Chrome bombs.

Finally, Google offered that the Web Store has seen 17 million app installs to date and noted that there were now 160 million Chrome browser users, up from 70 million just a year ago.
