Nikon scaps Coolpix S4100 due to supply shortages

Nikon has seemingly scrapped plans for the Coolpix S4100 due to the Japanese earthquake according to an official press release from the company. The camera was announced in February and was due to ship this May. However, the company now says that it has had to either cancel or indefinitely shelve the camera as a result of parts shortages.

With parts in limited supply, it is likely that Nikon has been forced to reprioritize which components are used in its shipping products. At this stage, Nikon has made no other announcements about similar cancelation of other products or shipment shortages for its camera line. [via Nikon Rumors]
