Nokia N9 shows at FCC with US 3G and June reveal
What should be the Nokia N9 has surfaced in an FCC filing that gave major clues as to Nokia's launch plans. What could be the first MeeGo phone has shown up with the necessary 850MHz and 1,900MHz HSPA support to work on AT&T in the US and top Canadian carriers. Its label diagram shows the distinctive tapered-end look of a Nokia phone and lines up with what few images have surfaced of the N9.
As the FCC is testing for wireless, only Bluetooth and Wi-Fi surfaced in the filing.
The appearance may have confirmed a very close launch. Nokia is asking for confidentiality on photos and other details until June 24. Companies usually wait until after the device has either been announced or in the market before they go public, indicating that Nokia plans some kind of launch before then. Nokia has so far only promised a MeeGo phone by the end of 2011.
A chance exists the phone may only sell in the US unlocked and get carrier deals only outside of the country. [via Wireless Goodness]
