Panasonic G3 to launch Thursday for $650

Panasonic will officially unveil its G3 Micro Four Thirds camera on Thursday, May 12, according to 43rumors. The successor to the current G2, the new camera is expected to be 25 percent smaller and get a 15.8-megapixel sensor. It will have ultra-fast autofocus and a maximum sensitivity of ISO 6400; it's not clear if it will get the improved low-light performance of the GH2.

The camera should record 1080p video as well as manage a continuous 4FPS for action photos. It carries a three-inch preview LCD that's presumed to be a touchscreen. Some controls have changed compared to the G2, with the left dial axed and the Q-button moved on the trash button.

The source claimed the camera with a kit lens would cost $649.
