Nikon USA confirms S4100 and S6100 good to go

The Nikon Coolpix S4100, which was said to have been cancelled due to the Japan earthquake will still be released in the US. It, along with the Nikon S6100 will still make to the US market as planned according to Nikon USA. “The Nikon COOLPIX S4100 and S6100 cameras are available in the Americas. As recently reported by Nikon Corporation, sales of these products are being discontinued in some markets however availability of these products in the Americas will not be impacted,” reads a statement from the company.

Nikon Japan released an ambiguous statement indicating that the S4100 was cancelled due to components shortages resulting from the quake.

No word has been forthcoming as to which markets will not get the cameras, or whether other models may also be affected.
