iPhone 4S camera parts support separate flash

A case manufacturer's claims that the next iPhone would have redesigned cameras was supported late Saturday with a new sighting. Coming once more from a California source for Apple.pro, the shot shows what's described as "iPhone 5" camera parts but visibly different than what's available today. The rear camera's part is the most telling as it no longer has a flash directly attached to the sensor and reinforced a new claim that the flash would be at the opposite top corner.

The photos also show that the camera itself is more space-efficient overall without having a smaller lens or sensor. A look at the front camera didn't show differences in the camera itself, although it has a much longer ribbon and an unusual 'crown' at the top.

A recognizably different camera array could be a sign of a switch to Sony sensors alluded to by that company's CEO Sir Howard Stringer. OmniVision has previously supplied cameras for all of Apple's iPhones, though, and might just have a more compact camera this year.

Any changes to the overall design of the next iPhone still haven't been corroborated. The case shown earlier Saturday implied it would be similar but with a larger screen. The Californian source, however, gave a Steve Jobs-like "one more thing" teaser that there would be at least one more and possibly much more revealing leak in the future.
