Leak shows Amazon Coyote and Hollywood tablet info

Amazon's tablet family has been broken down into more specific models in a rumor Monday evening. An entry level model, the Coyote, was cast by BGR sources as much like every other tablet with a dual-core NVIDIA Tegra 2. A second model, the Hollywood, would use NVIDIA's quad-core Kal-El and theoretically run up to five times faster than its ancestor.

No other features or tablets have been mentioned so far. As before, any devices would ship sometime before the end of the year. Related tips have had any tablets from Amazon co-designed by Samsung. The strategy hasn't been corroborated by other sources but would line up with NVIDIA's hopes of having Kal-El (likely the Tegra 3) ready by the end of 2011.

Tablets with this hardware would contrast sharply with Barnes & Noble's strategy for the Nook Color. Even when new, the Nook Color was designed as a bridge between e-readers and tablets with some of the features of a tablet but a $249 price that made it an easier upsell for those considering a regular Nook or an Amazon Kindle. Coyote and Hollywood would be focused on a much more advanced category and would more likely be tied into services such as Amazon Instant Video as much the Kindle Store.

Amazon has usually tried to emphasize its focus on e-reading but has felt pressure from Apple. Some, though not many, have been using iPads for reading and reducing the need for a Kindle.

    No glare...

As if you'd ever hold the tablet at that angle to your eyes. Silly advertisement.
