Square plans event for May 23

Square on Tuesday gave out invitations to its first real special event. A gathering at the company's San Francisco headquarters on May 23 at 10AM local time will provide "exciting news." Few clues were given out beyond the media being asked to "see what's in the cards."

Company creator Jack Dorsey would only tell TechCrunch that the deal was large.

The mobile payment startup has already landed a few major deals in recent weeks, such as investment from Visa and planning an encrypted reader that would allay minor worries about security on the devices themselves. A symbolic milestone had also been reached just two weeks ago when it passed $2 million in payments per day.

Candidates could include platform support beyond Android and iOS, a new reader, as well as an overhaul of the apps, among others.

    See what's in the cards.

The clue tells me that they are adding support for WebOS, in the cards, the WebOS cards. That would be great if there were any WebOS users out there.
