Best Buy pledges itself to HTC Flyer ship date

Best Buy on Thursday committed itself to a date for the Wi-Fi HTC Flyer. The Android 2.3 tablet will reach stores on May 22, two months after it was first promised. Just one model will be available with 16GB of storage and should cost $500.

Unlike in Europe, the Flyer won't ship with its pen, the signature feature of its design. Best Buy is carrying the pen but is charging an extra $80.

Already in shops in Europe, the seven-inch slate is based on the more recent version of HTC's Sense UI optimized for the larger screen. The design unusually runs on a 1.5GHz single-core Snapdragon processor and has both a five-megapixel rear camera and a 1.3-megapixel front camera. Eventually, it should get an Android 3.0 upgrade.
