Best Buy starts selling HTC Flyer tablets early

HTC Flyer already on sale at Best Buy

A company memo at Best Buy has let staff know that they can sell the HTC Flyer ahead of its previous May 22 release date. Stores have been told they can now "sell upon receiving" instead of waiting for Sunday. Although Engadget didn't get confirmations of the Android 2.3 tablet being sold, we have received early reports of a few buyers getting theirs.

The seven-inch slate is one of the few models outside of the Samsung Galaxy Tab to reach the US in wide form. While it won't use Android 3 until later, the design has a special version of HTC's Sense UI 3.0 optimized for the 1024x600 display. A 1.5GHz single-core Snapdragon, 16GB of storage and dual cameras make it stand out from the current wave of Android 3.x designs on a basic level.

Its specialty feature is support for pen input across the OS and in special versions of apps like Evernote, but the US version won't come bundled with the stylus. Best Buy is carrying the pen separately for $80 where Europe and most other regions have it built-in, albeit at a higher average price.
