Sprint to unveil variant of Droid X2

The Sprint June 9 event may include the launch of the dual-core Motorola Photon 4G. The Photon 4G was thought to be a Sprint-specific variant of the Motorola Atrix. However, according to Phandroid, the Photon 4G will be more similar to the Droid X2 in size, hinting at a 4.3-inch, qHD display. A Tegra 2 SOC will also power it.

A device from Motorola with the Photon name received FCC Wi-Fi certification in April. It appeared with a model number of MB855 lending weight to the rumor. It is also expected that a Sprint compatible version of the Motorola Xoom will launch alongside the Photon 4G at Sprint’s special event.
