Moto Droid Pro gets sudden Android 2.3 with Blur

Owners of the Motorola Droid Pro got a surprise this weekend after at least some owners got an upgrade to Android 2.3.3. The upgrade gave both the expected underlying tweaks as well as the new version of the Blur interface that first officially showed on the Droid X2. It managed to arrive even as Motorola was still conducting a "soak test" that gave only a small number of original Droid X owners the 2.3 upgrade.

The update gives the faster performance, better app management and other extras Google itself offers. Motorola's main additions are extras such as a more Mac OS X Exposé-like home screen manager, app grouping, and other small but significant interface additions. The update, because it isn't Android 2.3.4, omits the latest security fixes and Google Talk video chat, although the lack of a front camera will limit the newer feature.

Motorola and Verizon haven't said how soon they planned to give Android 2.3 to the Droid 2 and other devices, nor how far the Droid Pro upgrades would go. [via Droid-Life]
