Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 on AT&T finally gets Android 2.1

updated 08:55 am EDT, Tue May 31, 2011

Promised to deliver 2.3 by "late spring"

A short post on the Sony Ericsson blog notes that an update to Android 2.1 is available for AT&T Xperia X10 users. The company has been criticized for being slow to roll out Android upgrades for the X10, offering none in all of 2010. An update for the X10 and X8 that provided additional multi-touch features was released in February.

The Sony Ericsson pledged in March that it would upgrade the Xperia X10 to Android 2.3 in "late spring." Work done during development of the Xperia Play indicated that the newer OS could be ported back to its original Android phone. The company has been silent on the subject of updates for the Xperia X10 since that announcement.
