Sony gives clues of PlayStation Vita name for NGP

Multiple clues have emerged in the past day that the Sony NGP now had a final name. A photo leak and a working developer web domain, vita.scedev.net, have hinted that the quad-core gaming machine will be called the PlayStation Vita. The Sony Computer Entertainment site redirects to a portal but works with subdomains based on other device names, like NGP and PS3, while ignoring other made up addresses.

The console in the image appears to be virtually unchanged from the NGP other than replacing the placeholder "PlayStation" logo with "PSVita."

Sony has committed to launching the NGP/Vita before the end of the year but may be limited to certain areas due to the effects of the northern Japanese quake. The design may have seen some cost-cutting measures to lower the price but not necessarily in a way that would affect actual game quality.

Beyond the Vita, Sony is mostly expected to focus its E3 news on extra announcements for PlayStation Suite outside of the Xperia Play and the S1 and S2 tablets. [via This is my next]
