Ideal for older computers, Skype HD calling

Creative Technology believes it has solved the issue of less-than-ideal, choppy video calling with its new Creative Live! Cam inPerson HD webcam, which features an integrated H.264 video encoding processor to ensure the fastest possible frame rate with the least amount of computer resources. This makes it possible for older or notebook computers that lack sufficient built-in video processing to enjoy a significantly improved picture quality and consistency.

The new camera also offers improved audio quality, thanks to four microphones embedded in the long housing and housing, which measures nine inches across. When combined with the company's noise-cancellation technology, the result is better noise removal than mono or stereo mics.

As a result of the improvements, the inPerson HD cam has been Skype certified for voice, video and HD calling all the way up to "full HD" (1080p). The cam also features auto-focus (up to 10 feet), can take photos at up to 12 megapixels (software enhanced), and features bundled software (for Windows only) that assists in avatar creation, video and audio effects, sharing features and surveillance options.

The Creative Live! Cam inPerson HD sells for $150 retail and works with Intel dual-core or better Mac (OS X 10.5 or higher), Windows (XP SP2 or later) and Linux (kernel 2.6 or higher) with a USB 2 port.
