Tritton puts out trio of Xbox 360 headsets pre-E3

Tritton used a last-minute unveil ahead of E3 to show three new headphone and headset combos designed in tandem with Microsoft. As the range topper, the Warhead 7.1 packs its namesake Dolby surround audio as well as a base station that can supply four players with sound in games that mix same-screen multiplayer with online. It can pipe audio to optical or RCA and tunes the audio to focus on either gaming or broader tasks, such as movies or music.

Each of the three systems has relatively larger 50mm drivers, though only the Warhead 7.1 supports surround sound. Their microphone booms are all adjustable and are smart enough to only activate when the wearer speaks.

Differences otherwise hinge mostly on the connection and battery technologies: the Warhead 7.1 and Devastator both run on 5.8GHz wireless with the same base station while the Detonator is wired-only through USB. The top-end model runs on a proprietary lithium pack and is intended for full-time wireless use where the Devastator's AA batteries keep it as a more occasional headset. Both the Devastator and Warhead 7.1 have on-earpiece controls that are replaced by an in-line remote on the Detonator.

Full pricing has yet to be revealed, but Tritton expects the range to sit under $300. All of them should be available before the end of the year. [via IGN]
