iOS 5 possibly given a last minute peek
A mysterious photo has surfaced that's purportedly at least showing the direction of iOS 5. The image of an iPhone running the software is supposed to at a minimum reflect the "right idea" for the new platform and has a double-height status bar that would factor in notifications, not just ongoing calls or hotspot features. A new camera icon is also in view in TechCrunch's image, possibly there to reflect what the camera looks like on more recent iPhones versus the icon tailored to the original.
The information isn't confirmed beyond the supporting tip. Rumors have persisted of deep Twitter integration that would be supported by the notification system. A possible incongruity exists as the notification isn't using the same font as the status bar or other icons, though that assumes there isn't a broader font change.
What iOS 5 will have other than iCloud integration has been kept relatively secret, an uncharacteristic feat given that previous versions have usually had many of their features slipped out in advance. Some have alluded to a revamped notification system that would take advantage of hiring the key webOS notification designer a year earlier. That same vision also mentioned widgets and other features that would bring iOS up to par and possibly overtake Android in core interface elements.
Apple is expected to remove nearly all mystery around iOS 5 on Monday with its keynote, which we plan to cover starting from 1PM Eastern.

Photoshop strikes again
While I'm not saying that the person who created the image wasn't acting on good information, you can see the image is a PS creation. As already mentioned, there is the font issue, but you can actually see that the perspective on that line of text is different from the real status bar. The focus blur is also a bit clumsy.
