Xbox 360 NXE 2011 to bring cloud saves and beacons
In a quietly seeded tip after the new Xbox 360 experience was unveiled at an E3 keynote, Microsoft's Marc Whitten unwrapepd a pair of new and heavily requested Xbox Live features that will come with the update. It should now store saved game info as well as a full Live profile. The method lets anyone hop to another Xbox 360 and resume progress without having to act as though they're recovering from scratch.
Beacons are also new and signal desire to play a game. Individual titles can be marked with beacons and will show up as interested parties on Live, even when playing something else entirely. The step lets gamers kill time with a game or a video until friends are ready to play.
Both features are due to arrive in the fall update along with the Windows Phone-based UI, Bing search, live TV, and other elements that were promised at the same time.
