Looxcie has released a new wearable video camera, the Looxcie 2. The new version is almost 50 percent smaller than the original model. It also weighs 20 percent less, just 22 grams (0.75 ounces). The Looxcie 2 can capture up to five hours of continuously looped video in 320p mode or one hour in 480p. Battery life is approximately four hours in 320p and two hours in 480p.
A companion app, LooxcieMoments, is available free of charge on Android Marketplace and the iPhone App Store. The app handles switching between recording modes, lets users save the most recent 30 seconds of video with a button push on the unit, and create videos up to 30 minutes in length. LooxcieMoments also handles uploads to social media sites such as YouTube for 320p video directly from the user's smartphone. In 480p video quality upload requires the use of a PC.
The camera has Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR and eSCO as well as Bluetooth Hands Free Profile 1.5 for telephone calls.
The Looxcie 2 is available two versions, capable of storing either five or ten hours of MP4 video files. The five hour model retails for $179. The ten hour variant retails for $199.
