Sanyo to soon bring Eneloop Pro, Plus batteries

Sanyo Japan has just announced it will soon add two new rechargeable AA batteries to its Eneloop brand. Like the originals, both are nickel metal hydride but the Pros add 25 percent more capacity, for a total of 2,400mAh. The Eneloop Plus, on the other hand, retains the standard battery's capacity but has a resistor that will prevent it from getting too hot and is thus meant for use in kids' toys.

Also, Sanyo will release a wireless charging carrying case alongside the new batteries. Its price hasn't been announced but it's due to ship on July 21 in Japan, alongside the two- and four-pack of the Eneloop Pros. The two-pack will cost 1,260 Yen (about $16) while prices for the other batteries aren't yet being revealed. The Plus batteries, however, don't ship until December. It's not known when Sanyo will offer them in other markets, but it's likely to happen. Bundles with chargers will also be eventually available.
