New Nook hacked to show Bluetooth, third-party Android apps

Bluetooth present but not yet tested

Barnes & Noble delivered its new touchscreen Nook touch ahead of its scheduled June 10 ship date. It now seems that the company packed more into the e-paper reader than originally thought. According to the XDA Developers forum, the Touch actually has a Bluetooth chip embedded into the hardware.

The individual who posted this has not yet attempted to pair the touch with a Bluetooth device.

He has, however, been able to to run ADW Launcher on the new model. ADW Launcher is an open source home app for devices running Android. Both the new model and all earlier Nooks are based on the OS but normally hide it from public view. [via The Digital Reader]
