MSI GT780R and GX780 hit US shores

MSI started the week by shipping two of its highest-end notebooks to the US. The 17.3-inch GX780 and GT780R both share the same SteelSeries-made keyboard that can both withstand extra abuse, have customizable backlighting colors, and are optimized for games, especially first-person shooters. The two are also loaded in minimum specs and carry a 2GHz quad Core i7, at least mid-range dedicated graphics, and Dynaudio speakers with virtual THX-grade surround.

The GX780 is the relatively low-key system with GeForce GT 555M video, a 750GB hard drive, and a large 12GB of RAM. Stepping to the GT780R gives it faster GTX 560M video, a 1TB hard drive, and a full 16GB of RAM. Either has USB 3.0 as well as a 3D-capable HDMI 1.4 video out.

Either system should be available in the near future at prices of $1,550 for the GX780 and $1,750 for the GT780R.
