Acer retail notebook sales to pass 3 million units for June?

Performance outshines 1.6-1.8m for April

Acer is expected to sell over three million notebooks through retail channels in the month of June, sources have told DigiTimes. The company reportedly sold 1.6-1.8 million notebooks in April, while its May numbers jumped by approximately 60 percent. The strong performance was said to be a result of inventory clearing, however, as the company's suppliers did not achieve parallel growth during the same period of time.

The sources claim Acer's inventory is still higher than necessary in the European market, though the company is attempting to balance its global inventory amid strong sales in Southeast Asia and China.

Second-quarter notebook sales are estimated to reach 7.2-7.4 million units, while the company's official third-quarter outlook is expected to be announced at an investor conference later this week.
