Tuchscreen slider from LG and T-Mobile appears
A new LG smartphone fell briefly into the hands of Pocket-Lint this week. Not much is known about the QWERTY slide-out device though it does sport a unique and dedicated touchscreen in between the hardware keys that acts as a shortcut app launcher. There are eight shortcut keys on the screen, with two that can be assigned. The Android-powered device is said to be large, and thicker than the Milestone 2 from LG.
It also has similar touch control keys under the screen as seen previously on the LG Optimus 2X and Optimus Black. On the backside, the camera has an LED flash flanking it, but there is no indication of how many megapixels it has. This, along with a feeling of looseness between the halves when the phone is closed, indicates the phone isn't yet ready for production. Screen resolution isn't known, but not likely to be very generous.
The handset showed up wearing T-Mobile branding during an event hosted by Orange and Kineto Wireless in London to show off the latter provider's Smart WiFi technology used by Orange under the Signal Boost moniker.
One rep present at the event referred to the device as the Flip II. It could also be the LG Maxx Q when it arrives in T-Mobile stores or other carriers under perhaps a different name altogether.
