Motorola Droid 3 previewed in China first
Motorola's Droid 3 was given an effective full reveal through the launch of its international version in China. Called "the third Milestone" or the XT883, the Android 2.3 headliner is Motorola's first dual-core slider and uses a TI OMAP4430 chip underneath. Veteran owners get genuine functional upgrades with a four-inch, 540x960 display and a fifth keyboard row with dedicated number keys.
The third-generation model has an eight-megapixel camera on the back that can record 1080p video and is joined by a front camera of an unknown resolution for video chat. Motorola builds 16GB of storage into the phone itself and still allows for a microSDHC slot. Reflecting its eventual arrival on Verizon, the new Milestone has CDMA but adds GSM for world travel.
Chinese buyers will get the new phone sometime in the summer through China Telecom. Verizon's Droid 3 is widely tipped for next month and could ship on July 7 largely unchanged from the Chinese edition. [via Droid-Life]
